  ContentHTML : '<b>Biography</b><br><BR>Robert Moffat attended Clemson University where he earned BA and MA degrees in English with specialties in grammar and stylistics, and Medieval and Renaissance British literature. He served as a commissioned officer in the United States Army, and served a year in Viet Nam.  While in Viet Nam he was allowed to go with the chaplain four nearby units on Sundays and play the portable pump organ for worship services.<BR><BR>After returning from the military, he taught Senior Advanced and Accelerated English at Palmetto High School, Williamston, SC; and Senior College Preparatory English, Junior Hors English and Creative Writing at Seneca High School, Seneca SC.  After retiring from teaching in public secondary school in 2000, he was offered a position as lecturer in the English department at Clemson University, where he taught freshman and sophomore classes until 2007.  A number of his poems have been published in poetry journals including Timelapse, English Language in Arts Bulletin (Write State University), and the Poetry Society of South Carolina yearbook.<br><br>Robert’s interest in pipe organ began when he was four years old.  Because he could play hymns by ear, Elizabeth Harris Covington recommended that he begin taking piano lessons in the first grade rather than third.  He continued with piano lesson with Mrs. Covington through his senior year in high school. <br><br>During the summer of 1962, the session of First Presbyterian Church graciously allowed him to practice on the churches pipe organ.  With guidance from Mrs. Covington, he was able to master the instrument well enough to substitute for Betty Moore, the church organist at that time, who encouraged him by giving him many opportunities to play.  During his undergraduate years at Clemson, Robert served as assistant organist at Fort Hills Presbyterian Church, Clemson SC.  After beginning his teaching career, he served four years as organist and choirmaster of Pelzer Presbyterian Church.  Robert Moffat was appointed organist of Seneca Presbyterian Church, a position he continues to hold after more than thirty two years.  <br>',
