Celebration of Friendship Dinner and Apron Auction a HUGE Success!Surely the Lord is in this place… So many members of Seneca Presbyterian Church gave generously of time, talent and resources to make our Celebration of Friendship Dinner and Apron Auction on November 10th a huge success. Thirty-eight exquisitely handmade aprons were beautifully displayed around Pastors’ Hall for both silent and live auctions. There was much lively bidding. Eight high fashion models strutted their stuff and really heightened the interest in these aprons. Why, even Maxine made an appearance as a model. (Boy, did she cop an attitude!) Each apron came with a container loaded with a wide array of goodies. Members of our church sponsored an apron and shopped for these creative baskets and trays. Many guests and members had multiple bids going because choosing just one was too hard to do. One of our aprons is going to live in Colorado, while others will find homes in Atlanta, Charlotte, Anderson, and Oconee County. The Mystery Basket generated extremely high interest. In fact, dear Glenda Pitts left her dinner table at the auction to go run another 200 Charity Chances to sell! The lucky winner of the Mystery Basket was our own Pat Huggins. She had masterfully sewn and donated five aprons to our auction. Her husband Gil had donated a framed, matted photograph of our beautiful mountains. The evening of Christian fellowship, good food, and fun times raised $5,300 which is being donated to Helping Hands Shelter for Abused and Neglected Children. Please pray that our monetary donation to this worthy cause makes a difference in the lives of these children in need. |
